Dr. Robert Riehle
Most recently Dr. Robert Riehle was Chief Medical Officer at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System for seven years. In this role, he coordinated the 500 members of the Medical Staff, with focus on performance evaluation and improvement of quality patient care.
Until 1990, Dr. Riehle was Associate Professor of Surgery (Urology) at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He was Director of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Unit at that time, with special interests in urolithiasis and renal function after donor nephrectomy. His prior medical and surgical training was at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Cornell Medical Center. He is a graduate of Yale University.
The author of 50 scientific articles, he has also edited a medical monograph on lithotripsy, moderated numerous physician education tapes and panels, and has written, directed and edited films on medical topics.
As a physician executive, he has served as medical director of a community hospital and several health plans.
